Admin console¶
What this is: the web app at app.<brand> where people use and run their company's Bill and Ben.
Who it is for: every member (Home) and tenant owners and admins (Admin).
You will learn: what each area is for, which Admin page does what, why some things are missing for you, how "Confirm it's you" works, how to invite a person and how to give comp access.
Every button is checked by the permission check, not by role names. See permissions and roles for how it works.
The three areas¶
| Area | Address | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Home | / |
Everyone who is signed in. See Home. |
| Admin | /admin |
People who run the company: owners, admins and anyone given an admin task. |
| Operations | /ops |
Bill and Ben staff only. |
You switch area from the company name at the top left. You only see the areas you may open. After sign-in, admins land on Admin; everyone else lands on Home.
Bill and Ben staff tools¶
Operations is the staff control centre for the whole platform. It needs a staff account and a second sign-in step. Customers never see it. When staff act as a customer user, the customer's audit log records it and a banner shows while it is active.
What you see, and what you do not¶
- Things you may not use are hidden, never locked. There is no greyed-out page and no "no permission" message. If a page is not in your menu, you do not need it.
- An Upgrade pill means a paid feature. The feature is not in your plan. Open it to see what you would get. Admins with billing rights get an Upgrade button. Everyone else sees Ask your admin.
- Owners and admins see everything their company's plan includes.
Confirm it's you¶
A few sensitive actions, such as giving comp access, ask you to sign in again with a second step. The page shows Confirm it's you. Choose it, sign in with your second step and you return to the same page. If you already used a second step and the page still asks, add a second step in your Microsoft or company account, then try again.
Upgrade requests¶
When a member opens a paid feature, they can send a request to their admins. Admins with billing rights see it under Needs you on the Admin overview. They can upgrade the plan, mark it done or dismiss it.
- Open
https://app.<brand>. The console starts a sign-in. - Sign in with Microsoft, Google or email. You land in your own company. A person who is not an active user of a company gets nothing.
- Open Settings to see your company name and region.

| Complimentary access | /admin/complimentary |
Give one of your own people a plan at no charge. |
You see a page only if your role allows it. Which roles allow what is in permissions and roles.
Old addresses such as /users or /billing still work: they send you to the new address.
Task: invite a person and give a role¶
You need the People and Roles pages (the Owner and Admin roles have both).
- Open People, choose Invite, enter email, given name and family name. The person gets an email invite. If the form says sign-in is not set up for your company yet, ask your Bill and Ben contact to finish setup. After the invite, the person opens the email link and sets up sign-in. Then you give the role (step 2).
- Open Roles, pick a role (for example Member or Developer) and give it to the new person. You can also change a role from the row menu on People.
- Only an Owner may hand out Owner. The last Owner can never be removed or deactivated.
- Built-in roles cannot be edited. Copy one into a custom role first; custom roles are a plan feature.
- If the permission check is unavailable, the change is refused and nothing is applied. Try again shortly.
Every step is written to the audit log. Check it on Audit.
Task: give comp access¶
Comp access gives a person a plan at no charge. The page appears only for Owners. It also asks you to Confirm it's you with a second sign-in step.
- Open Complimentary access.
- Choose a person of your own company, a plan, a reason and optionally an end date and a model budget.
- A company admin can only comp their own people. Another company's person is refused. A company-wide grant is done by Bill and Ben staff.
- Change or revoke a grant from the same page. Grants, changes and revokes are checked again and audited. The model budget still counts against spend caps. More: billing.
Other company features¶
- Teams app package: download a package for a custom Teams upload from Meeting bots.
- Self-serve signup (where Bill and Ben has switched it on): a new company can sign up from public pages; the verification link in the email must be confirmed on the page, so mail scanners cannot create an account.
- Microsoft 365 consent: an admin starts the Microsoft admin consent from the console; the company is linked only after the sign-in is proven.
- Legal links: the footer links the legal documents when your plan provider has set them up.
